Knowledge and Technology Transfer

The group specialises in the thermodynamics and transport properties of quantum materials. This opens up many avenues for knowledge transfer. We are pursuing two key avenues.

The first is collaborating with industry on the measurement and characterisation of new thin film materials developed utilising the vast capabilities available in St Andrews including x-ray, transmission electron microscopy, physical and magnetic property measurement systems. This work is supported by EPSRC IAA impact funding.

The second avenue is utilising our experience in thermodynamic modelling to work with groups in biology (Prof Brierley) and industrial partners (Rastech Ltd.) on a range of thermodynamic consideration in sustainable on-land aquacultures to be proto-typed at Eden campus as well as sustainable fishery at Lake Victoria (Uganda).
