Solving the puzzle of new quantum materials
The group is working on unconventional phases in materials with strong electron correlations (quantum materials). A key focus is on the new opportunities opened up by the possibilities of creating artificial designer (heterostructures) of such materials by ‘building’ them up atomic layer by atomic layer. As part of the Designer Quantum Materials Center of the School of Physics and Astronomy we are using and developing bespoke experiments enabling the measurement of fundamental quantities such as magnetisation, entropy and magnetoconductivity.
